An Online course for working from home ergonomically
The Atlas Ergonomic online course provided office workers and people working from home with a range of video-based activities and resources on on how to create a safe and healthy working space
With the move to remote work for Irish workers during and post pandemic lockdowns, there has been a notable increase in reports of musculoskeletal issues.
According to a HSE survey conducted in Ireland in 2022, 60% of respondents reported experiencing new aches and pains since transitioning to remote work. Among these, 58% reported back pain, 57% reported neck pain, and 35% reported shoulder pain. A survey by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) found that only 28% of respondents had received an ergonomic assessment or equipment from their employer to support home working.
Nasctha worked with Atlas Physiotherapy to develop an online course for Atlas clients (but later shared on a wider basis for anyone who wanted access). This online course focused on promoting a regular movements and stretching, which were articulated in a short and effective e-learning course, which primarily focused on video and motion graphics to communicate how to perform these exercises.
The online course also focused on how to create ergonomic working spaces. This focused on outlining how to conduct basic ergonomic assessments to identify potential ergonomic risks and address these to improve home office setups.
